How to draw cars

Drawing is a hobby that takes a lot of time to learn as with anything else. But once learned you can create some nice drawings or paintings. Below i will explain how i draw pictures of muscle cars and hotrods. I choose cars is because there is lots of detail and cars are kind of challenging to draw.

The tools you need are a drawing pad, pencil, eraser, tape measure opional and a picture to draw.

The first step in drawing is i look for a nice detailed muscle car or hotrod first from my tablet. But you don’t have to find a detailed picture to start out with, since you are first starting out drawing. Once i have found a picture of the car.

Second step is get your pencil and pad and start to sketch the outline of the car on the pad first the best you can. You can use a tape measure to measue each angle of the outline, thats if you want the picture the exact same size. Most of the time you will want to draw a bigger version of the car. I just use my eye’s intead of a tape measure. This part as with others there will be lots of looking back and forth at the picture and erasing some of the drawing to fix the curves, straight lines or angles to better the drawing.

The third step is to draw the windows, lights and other inner detail and lines about where you think these details should go the best you can, and again there will be lots of looking at the picture and erasing and fixing the detail in the drawing to try to make the picture closely resembe the car picture.

The forth step is adding the shading and light spots about where you thinke they should go either near some parts you drew before or through them on the picture you are drawing of the car. Again as in the other steps there will be erasing and redrawing to make the drawing look better.

The drawing not complete. After the drawing is done, i usually check the picture and the drawing for a last once over to adjust some things if needed and most of the time it is.

In order to become good at drawing. Practice is the key to be able to create some good art.

Modified cars need to be government approved

Stylish spoilers, low ground clearance, husky engine noise, sporty headlamps and huge allow wheels are some of the things that make up a modified car. Modified new cars have always been in vogue and continue to entice car lovers across the country. But what most people do not know is that these modifications can sometimes make your car illegal for the roads if proper procedures are not followed.

According to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), a modified car needs to undergo several mandatory checks by government-approved agencies. The checks need to be done to establish the fact that structural changes and engine modifications have been made. The approval is mandatory because if the requisite certification/paper work is missing then the owner is considered to have violated the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. And the car is considered illegal for the road.

The Indian government has strict rules regarding car modifications and illegal cars can be confiscated anytime. The procedure to get the car back is a lengthy and expensive one. According to the government norms a modified car can be evaluated at three testing centres – ARAI-Pune, Vehicle Research and Development Establishment, Ahmednagar, and the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Dehradun. So, a person planning to modify his car should first get the modification plans approved by the original car maker and modify as per plan. Then the modified car should be approved by the original car maker and finally taken for approval to government-approved certifying agencies.

India’s car modification industry is pegged at Rs 50 crore and is seeing a positive year on year growth. Modifications can cost anything between a few lakhs to a few crores depending upon the modification job. With more and more people wanting to modify their cars it become important that they are aware of the legal aspect too.

Some feel that the mandatory evaluation of remodelled cars by the government hinders the growth of the car modification industry. But the authorities have a different view and feel that checks are mandatory to insure that safety standards have been properly met. Often, cars that are remodelled at small shops do not adhere to the rules and thus cannot be allowed on roads.

However, the government should consider making these checks locally available. But the ill equipped RTOs across the country are a big hindrance in this regard.

Beginners Guide: Car Audio Systems

The first step is to determine what your needs are. If you’re unsure, we will first look at the individual components that make up a complete system.
The Head Unit

AKA Source Unite. This is the most important part of your audio system. The decision you make here will either make or break your system, never mind you hearing.

What to look for in a head unit:

Manufacturer: Look for a well know manufacturer i.e. Sony, Alpine, Clarion, Blaupunkt, JVC etc.

Sound Re-production: Accurate sound re-production is a must, forget looks.

Warranty: Good warranty is also a must, avoid Grey-Market units.

Build Quality: Make sure its robust.

Low budget features:

Forget Fascination: Forget colorful displays, flip down panels, inbuilt equalizers, bass boost etc.

Higher budget features:

CD: If your music collection is on CD, then consider a CD head unit or one with a CD changer.

MP3 & WMA: If you have a vast music library then you may want to look for units that can read MP3 and/or WMA music formats.

VCD & DVD: Long journeys will benefit from this feature and keep the kids out of trouble too.

Amplifier: If you planning to add an amp to your car choose a head unit with RCA outputs.

This is the second most important part of your audio system. Speakers convert electronic signals into sound waves.

What to look for in speakers:

Spending: Speakers come in several types, sizes and power ratings. Be careful before spending more money then you need to.

Power: Speaker power is one of the most over-rated features in head units and speakers.

Numbers: Don’t get pulled in by numbers like 300Watts or 450Watts etc. Even the big company’s use this.

Ratings: Don’t buy speakers based upon the company’s ratings like PMPO, Peak Power, Max Power etc.

RMS: Root Mean Square ratings are equivalent of the actual power rating delivered.

Installation: This is one of the most important points of the speaker, “proper installation”. Direction, Height and Placement is key to the sound and if not installed properly can make the sound feel lifeless.

Manufacturer Locations: Usually speaker locations provided by the car manufacturer are not the best, but you can install the speakers in the provided spaces.

Speaker Types:

Coaxial: They are two (or more) speakers’ built-in the same unit. They usually consist of a mid-bass and tweeters. They are cheaper than separate component speakers and easier to install.

Component 2-Way: They consist of a mid-bass and tweeter. They are harder to install then coaxial.

Component 3-Way: They consist of a separate woofer, mid-bass or mid-range and tweeters. They are harder to install then coaxial.

Mid-Bases: Usually 5″ to 8″ speakers that are designed for low frequency sound and fill the frequency gap between the woofer and the tweeter. Because of there size they are hard to fit but do make the sound more lifelike.

Horns: These are funnel shaped speakers that are for staging, they are particularly good for vocal frequencies but are the hardest to install.

Tweeters: Usually 1″ to 3″ in size and great for high frequency sounds. They can be hard to install in some cars as there mounting is usually done around or in the dashboard.

Sub-Woofers: The largest speakers raging in size from 8″ to 24″ and sometimes bigger. They are the most important if you want to feel the beats and not just hear them. The woofer is usually found in the trunk in an enclosure but installations may vary.

Speaker Locations:

Front Speakers: Commonly located in or under the dashboard or in door panels.

Rear Speakers: Located behind the rear seats or in door panels.

Woofer: Depending on size, behind the rear seats or in the trunk.

Tweeters: Usually on the front pillars, front doors or dashboard.

Note: Try out your speaker positions before installing them so that you get the best sound.

Amps amplify or multiply the input signals from the head unit to the speakers. The Amp not only make the sound louder they also make it clearer.

What to look for:

Class: Amps are classified according to their amplification, Class-A, B, AB, and D.

Channel: They can also be classified by their channel, Monobloc 1-Channel, 2-Channel, 4-Channel etc.

They are a combination of series and parallel placed induction coils and capacitors, or either of them. They are given the job of frequency distribution among different types of speaker for distortion free sound reproduction. Inductors stop the high frequencies from passing through.

A combination of these together make a band pass which cut through a certain portion of both the high as well as the low frequencies and are rightly called band-pass crossovers.

Skoda Superb Price in India – brought to you by Autoportal India

Facelift model of Skoda Superb’s entry into Indian market won it many accolades from a wide variety of quarters. The new version comes with host of outside and inside changes along with added prowess of extra equipment. In total, Skoda Superb in three variants with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. Also, on the transmission front there is both manual and automatic gearbox that one can choose from.

Petrol variant is available in both manual and automatic transmission while diesel comes only in automatic gearbox. The manual petrol variant named Elegance TSI is priced at Rs 22.14 lakh. Engine is turbocharged and features 16-valve cam mechanism for smooth operation of intake and outtake. The number of cylinders is four and the total displacement stands at 1.8-litre. Maximum power is rated at 160 PS while maximum torque stands at 250 Nm. This whole might is transmitted to the wheels via 6-speed manual transmission. In contrast, 7-speed automatic transmission called Elegance TSI AT is priced at Rs 23.82 lakh. Apart from the automatic transmission, the other specifications of this model remain similar to its manual counterpart. As expected, manual transmission is slightly more fuel efficient with a rated mileage of 13.7 kmpl while mileage of the automatic version stands at 13.1 kmpl.

Unlike the petrol variant, the seekers of diesel model have to be content only with the automatic transmission. It’s relatively bigger in size and displaces 2.0-litre of cubic capacity. This in-line, 4-cylinder, turbo charged diesel engine is quite a piece of technology. Breathing through 16-valve double overhead cam architecture, Skoda diesel puts out 140 PS of max power at 4200 rpm. The car also has massive 320 Nm of torque delivered between 1750-2500 rpm. The engine come mated with 6-speed DSG trip-tronic transmission featuring the convenience of manual shifts. Unlike the petrol model, which is front wheel drive, diesel version is four-wheel drive with torque distributing to all the wheels automatically. The fuel consumption is also on the lower side as the diesel variant offers mileage of 17.2 kmpl. The price of diesel variant is pegged at Rs 28.63 lakh. (all-prices ex-showroom, Delhi)

Skoda Superb is rated high on the safety aspect as it comes with 8-airbag, all-around disc brakes, large 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking assistance, electronic stability control, electronic differential lock, anti-lock Braking System, and anti-slip regulation system. Turning radius of the car stands at 5.4-metre and the fuel-tank capacity stands at decent 60-litre. The footprints of the cars are designed to provide a comfortable journey. However, the ground clearance of 159 mm is a bit matter of concern. The low underbelly makes the car susceptible of potential scraping at high-speed breakers.

Prominently-featured Japanese Used Cars in the Internet

It’s really interesting finding out about the most prominent featured Japanese used cars in online magazines, blogs, and motoring websites. It gives users a grasp on who’s who in theauto industry, and provides information on cars without requiring you to own one first. People would already have a car in mind when asked about what they think are the most popular cars from Japan, and it makes you think what exactly makes these cars so well-known. These models have become icons of Japanese automotive culture.

Bestselling: Toyota Corolla
The Corolla is reputed to sell one unit every forty seconds—well you don’t have to take this literally as this may also mean that ever since this model was launched to the market, the number of units sold from then until now surpasses any other car in history. What makes it a bestseller is its supreme reliability, so much so that it is also one of the first cars to need a sixth digit on its odometer—it just keeps on running!

Top Competitors: Honda Civic & Honda Accord
The fuel-efficient Civic came just in time to alleviate the lives of millions of auto-using Americans during the oil crisis in the Seventies. The success of the Civic paved the way for the introduction of the Accord, which was to become the first Japanese model to be assembled in US shores, and consequently become one of Honda’s bestsellers, competing with Toyota’s Camry.

Affordable Speed: Datsun 240Z
A list of the most prominently-featured Japanese used cars won’t be complete without the Datsun 240Z, known by its classier name Nissan Fairlady Z in Japan. Back when sports cars were admired from afar by enthusiasts (the Porsches and Ferraris were simply not budget-friendly), the Datsun 240Z provided a sleek and fast ride for a much affordable price.
Hybrid Pioneer: Toyota Prius
As people began to be more conscious about the environment and are encouraged to make proactive steps in conserving resources, Toyota launched the Prius in 1997, the world’s first mass-produced hybrid. The Prius was a good start in hybrid technology, and soon after its release other car manufacturersfollowed suit, each coming up with new hybrid and electric models, and making hybrid versions of existing models. The Prius also gets top mileage, and is very popular among Hollywood celebrities.

Unique Rotary Engine: Mazda RX-7
Motorsport fans would always cite the RX-7 as one of the most iconic sports cars from Japan. It is one of the most prominent featured Japanese used cars because of its 1146cc twin-rotor engine. Rotary engines are small and light, but are extremely powerful.

True Japanese Exotic: Acura NSX
This sports model was designed to compete with the Ferrari 328, but enthusiasts agree that it’s actually way better than the Italian model, and it was much more affordable too. It’s been called an everyday supercar, and some folks would also attest that it is probably the best sports car that has ever been built.

That’s all for now. There are plenty of other models that have become prominently-featured Japanese used cars over the years, such as the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, the Nissan Skyline GT-R, and the Mazda Miata. We’ll take a look into the other models in our future articles, so keep on reading!

Collector Car Market Report: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 market has softened significantly in the last 12-18 months. The global recession is being felt in the collector car market. A few years ago a 1969 Camaro Z28, any Camaro really, looked to be a rocketship investment, regularly reaching six-figure bids. Now, good to great examples can be had for between $40-$60k.

That said, first generation Camaros have a lot going for them that will always keep them desireable. For one, they are handsome machines, well-proportioned with aggressive muscle car bodywork sure to turns heads.

Then there’s the legendary Chevy small block V8 rumble. From, “The 302 Z28 engine is the smallest V-8 ever installed in a Camaro to date. It is also the only engine available new in any ’67-69 Z28. Based on a 4.00-inch bore and a 3.00-inch stroke, the little engine made lots of power above 5,000 rpm and very little below. This engine’s 290hp rating was very underrated. In stock trim, actual power was in the mid-300hp range.

These engines were designed specifically to compete in SCCA road racing and came with a huge resume of hardcore race parts: a Holley 800-cfm carburetor, big-runner aluminum intake manifold, 2.02 heads, a high-lift mechanical camshaft (0.485-inch lift), 11:1 compression, full-floating wrist pins, a forged crankshaft, and more. Because the engine did not produce much torque and had such high rpm capability beyond 7,000 rpm, 302 Z28s were only offered with four-speed transmission and were not available with air conditioning. Chevrolet also sold several cross-ram-intake setups (two staggered four-barrel Holley carburetors) and special race camshafts for the early Z28s that helped the 302 gain even more high-rpm power. With some modifications these engines would easily produce power well above 400 horses (at very high rpm).”

To keep your car burning rubber now and into the future, aftermarket, NOS, and factory-authorized reproduction parts are plentiful. The first generation Camaro is probably one of the easiest cars to keep on the road out there.

Perhaps the most important thing to look out for when shopping is rust, which can be hiding just about anywhere. Don’t assume the owner has been vigilant. Dig deep to prove it for yourself.

Besides that, make sure the car is original and not a clone, unless you want a clone, which can save you thousands of dollars for 90% of the fun. Also, these are not refined luxury automobiles and will always squeak and rattle.

Whether you’re a die-hard Camaro disciple or just want a great muscle car, first generation Camaros are easy to fix, to restore to original or to customize to your heart’s content.

What Factors Influence The Value Of A Used Car?

Wanted to buy a used car but have since backtracked fearing it to be a bad investment? Or are you trying to sell your old car but have been getting too many rejection letters from potential buyers and dealers alike? Well, all of this may have stemmed from a miscalculation of the value that your old car up for sale in Kolkata or elsewhere can fetch. This may be because of several reasons, especially ones that you do not have an inkling of.

Provided below are some of the factors that may influence the value of your car, adversely or in a positive manner. Irrespective of how it reduces or appreciates the price of your used car, you need to keep them in mind while setting a price tag for your car to the dealer or while buying one too!

•    After Purchase Accessories – While installing a fantastic set of accessories in your car, you may be improving the “bling” status of your vehicle, but will be in a soup when you decide to resell it to a dealer or a potential buyer. This is because ot many people want to buy the music system or air conditioner used in a car for 4 years. Instead they would buy a new one and install it, rather than buy your used accessory for even half of the original price. This makes recovering the costs of these accessories through the used car dealers almost impossible!

•    Accidents and Damage – Of course superficial damage from accidents are a worry and reduces the price of the car inevitably. This also means a loss for the vehicle owner – who will have to repair the damage and also cannot add the costs to the price tag of the second hand car. On the other hand, internal damage can also cause a lot of price depreciation for the vehicle. Keep these factors in mind while buying or selling the second hand car from the concerned dealer next time!
•    Modifications – are also a major concern for people who often end up paying up much more than their actual costs. If you are adding racing stripes, or ramped up engines or even muscle car hoods to your car, you should be aware that the implications of the same on your insurance costs will be huge. Moreover, if you are thinking of selling the car with the same mods to the next buyer, most would not take it for as it is – ask you to tear the additions down or simply reject your offer. So think twice before you take that embellishment leap!

•    Other Factors – include seasonal discounts, impact of the weather on what models of a car will be bought more (summers are not for open top convertibles), as well as other issues like mechanic certification etc.

If you are really keen on buying or selling a second hand car online via a dealer, these factors will keep you well informed on the right price tag for the vehicle on your radar!

Early Model Porsche Classic Sports Cars

Porsche 356

The first Porsche classic model was made in 1948 and was called the Porsche 356. It came in as a 2-door coupe and 2-door convertible. It had a four-cylinder horizontally opposed engine with 40 bhp of power reaching top speed of around 140 km/h. The model has been in production for over 17 years and in 1965 the company moved to a new prototype – Porsche 901.

Porsche 901

Porsche 901 was delivered to the market after almost 10 years of development. Porsche was accused of taking the naming rights of another car producer – Peugeot, for using 3 digits number with 0 in the middle. For this, Porsche changed the name of their Porsche 901 prototypes to Porsche 911. This affected many other Porsche models with similar names – Porsche 904, 906, etc. However, the number 1 had its unique magnetism and Porsche decided to stick to it. Thus, the 0 in the middle was substituted with 1.

Porsche 901 was firstly created as a four-seated model. However, as a continuation of the of the Porsche 356 it had to have a rear engine located at the back which defined this model as two-seated. Thus, a six-cylinder Boxer engine was used for the Porsche 901l. The car was so remarkable that Mr. Ferry Porsche presented it as the unmistakable character of the Porsc he sports car. Porsche 911 continues its development till present.

Porsche 912

In 1965 the company started working on another version of the 365 prototype – Porsche 912 which outsold the Porsche 911 for the first year. In USA, it became a market leader. The Porsche 912 was an economical Porsche with a four-cylindered Boxer rear engine with 1.6 litters capacity. The dimensionsof the first Porsche 912, were:

Height: 1,320 mm

Porsche 912 was also remarkable for its top speed – 185 km/h. However since 1969 the prototype is no longer produced. The company moved to another model.

Porsche 914

In the same year, Porsche launched Porsche 914. Long before it came out, the Porsche 914 was already popular as a wonderful sport car at an affordable price – around 12,000 DM. The design of the car was reported by many drivers to be a real tease – elegant and sporty. The body-work of the model was done by the company Karmann. This model came with four different engine options, long wheelbase and Tagra or Coupe body. With its great advantages Porsche 914 quickly became the current best selling model.

Why People Love and Collect Antique Cars

Antique cars and classic cars collecting, restoring, and showing have become the number one pass time for many classic car enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to antique cars as a hobby, or a seasoned collector, the internet has information on classic cars, car parts, accessories, car shows and antique car sales, and more.

The first antique automobile was made in 1672 by a Chinese monk, and was steam powered. Then, around 1769, The Cugnot Steam Trolley was capable of transporting humans was produced. Other steam engine cars followed. By today’s standards, the steam car would be considered a green alternative to modern gas guzzlers. New hybrid cars still don’t operate on nothing but steam power like the steam trolley did over two hundred years ago.

It wasn’t until 1806 that the first car with an internal combustible engine appeared. The internal combustible engine cars began to hook us all on vehicles that were powered with the use of gas and oil. In 1885, a more modern version of the internal combustible engine car was introduced. Even electric cars were designed very early in the twentieth century, but faded out in favor of gas powered vehicles. The Ford Museum, in Detroit, MI. still has a running, working model of Ford’s first electric motor on display. Antique Ford cars are highly collectible and well known in classic car circles.

There are several eras of collectible automobile history. Each era has a specific term to define the particular types of classic cars made during those time frames. Knowing certain antique car terms can help you to decide which antique car era you want to focus on as an antique car collector or restorer.

Classic cars from the 1890’s and earlier are termed “Veteran Era” antique autos. From around the 1900’s to 19190, those classic cars are generally referred to as the “Brass”, or “Edwardian” era collector cars. A very popular area for antique car collectors is the “Vintage” 1920’s era classics. Through the 1930’s to the 1950’s, there are “Pre-war” era classic cars. 1950’s through 1970’s are termed: “Post-war” classic or antique cars.

Cars that are twenty years old or older are generally referred to as “antique” cars. Another classic and collector car term you will hear is the term: “muscle cars”; which generally refer to sports cars made between the 1960’s to 1980’s. Whatever your classic antique car interest may be, the internet gives all the information, history, and antique car sales.

Antique Car collecting and restoration is a hobby practiced by people all over the world. Even American celebrities fall in love with them. Jay Leno, in addition to hosting the Tonight Show, is known for his huge collection of antique cars and motorcycles going all the way back to the early 20th century. Past stars known for their love of cars are Larry Hagman and Steve McQueen.

One of the reasons people love antique cars is that, for them, it brings back childhood or teenage memories. Maybe they had their first date in that car, or that is the car the family when on annual picnics, or maybe it was the car to have when they were young but they couldn’t afford it. The nostalgia market is worth billions of dollars and those longing for the antique autos of their youth account for only a small piece of it.

Auto Detailing Calgary: How to Get Soda Stains Out of Your Car Seat

You know you love your car. You love driving around, and going to different places throughout the day. You stop to fill up on a little gas and decide to get a cherry soda. Why not, it is hot out right? You just got your car detailed, so you tell yourself you are going to be very careful drinking this tasty beverage. You are driving down the road and go to take a sip, and all of a sudden the car in front you slams on their brakes and that soda is all over you and the seat. How are you going to get the soda stain out? This article will explain exactly how to do that and possibly prevent them for happening in the first place.

Soda stains are pretty hard to prevent in a car. It just seems like they are a natural occurrence, especially if you have kids. The only true way to stop soda stains from happening is keeping you car soda free. Why not, it is your car after all. If your family loudly opposes this idea you can let them only bring bottled soda in the car, because that at least has a cap on it whereas soda cans do not. Another thing you could do is to spray a fabric protector on all of your car seats according to the manufacturer’s directions. While this won’t stop your kids from simultaneously pouring grape soda on your nice white car seats, this will make clean up a little easier on you. Of course you can put car seat covers on all of the seats. Then all you would need to do is throw the covers in the washer machine the next time a soda spills.

How to get the soda stains out may be a little trickier but it is possible. Let’s first discuss how to clean up a fresh soda stain, which may be easier to deal with than a set in stain. So, you just spilled some soda on your car seat. The first thing you should when it is safe to do so, such as after you pull over, is to blot the soda with a paper towel. Keep on blotting until you get all the liquid up. Make sure you do not use a scrubbing motion because you will only rub the stain into the seat. Once you do that take a spray bottle filled with 4 cups of warm water and a tablespoon of detergent and spray the stain. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and then proceed to blot this up with paper towels. Repeat until the stain is gone. If you have leather car seats dampen a paper towel with warm water and blot the soda up. Make sure to dry the spot with more paper towels until dry.

If you have stains that are set into the seat of you car you may want to use a foaming upholstery cleaner according to the manufacturer’s directions. You could alternatively use a steam vacuum with a hose attachment on the stain, and follow the directions. As always when cleaning any fabric make sure you test the method on a small spot of the upholstery that isn’t as noticeable to make sure it doesn’t do any damage.

“Auto Loan Industry fuels market for auto loan modification,” says Auto Relief Group

According to Experian Automotive, a global leader in providing information and analytical tools, the U.S. automotive lending industry showed signs of stabilization during the third quarter of 2009. Experian throws light on the major lenders. While Toyota Financial Services topped the market share in the third quarter at 11.2%, followed by Chase Auto Finance at 11.1%, GMAC at 9.1% and Ford Motor Credit at 7.1% for new cars; on the other, Wachovia Dealer Services occupied the market at 5.7%, followed by Chase Auto Finance at 4.5%, Toyota Financial Services at 3% and Capital One Auto Finance at 1.8% for the used ones.

However, the cost of borrowing has risen for people with a low credit score of 500 to 589. Considering the still not so healthy economy with high rates of unemployment, foreclosures, late payments etc., the financial institutes do hesitate to approve loans for the risky borrowers.

Interestingly, Auto Relief Group (ARG), nations leading Auto Loan Modification Company, reports increase in their clientele. “Though the dark phase of recession affected everybody badly, a service that actually bloomed is ‘Auto loan modification’ service. Recession brought along many late repayments for auto loan, even repossessions in worst cases but those who didn’t want their vehicles to be repossessed thereby lowering their credit score took the refuge in Auto Relief Group. Apparently, the market for auto loan modification gets the fuel from auto loan industry as their  borrowers are the potential customers for loan modification if they lack enough funds to meet the EMIs,” said Jeffrey Taylor, director of Sales of ARG,

With over 15 years of experience, ARG has been helping Americans find the best way to lower their payments and keep their car, truck, boat or RV. They work directly with the auto lenders to obtain the best loan modification. This modification consists of extending terms or lowering interest rates to find the payment that works best for the individual.

“We’ve been successfully assisting our clients in lowering their monthly car payment by as much as 50%. Our options include loan modification of an existing automobile loan, equity recapture, trade up, sale or even vehicle refinancing for those individuals who are in danger of losing their vehicle to repossession. Since every situation is unique, only after consulting with the ARG professionals can you possibly determine what is best for you on an individual basis.” Jeffery signs off.

About Auto Relief Group:

Auto Relief Group was founded to help customers deal with their auto loan payments in time of need. Over the years each member of their team has developed a stellar reputation, and industry connections, allowing the company to quickly identify opportunities and act to assist the clients in their efforts to reduce their payment and keep their car, SUV or truck.

How to Connect Smartphone to Android Car DVD

Our smartphones now carry much more information about ourselves than any other phones ever had. And a big part of that information is our music collection. It most probably occupies the biggest part of the SD card on our smartphone, and we would like to listen to it anywhere and anytime. And a part of our day where we would want to entertain from our Android 2 din Car Stereo is when we drive in our cars, going from place to place.

If you want to connect your smartphone to your Android Car DVD so you can listen to music via the car’s speakers, you have a few options.

1. Connect Smartphone to Car with Bluetooth

In order to do so, your stereo must have Bluetooth integrated. Newer models, sometimes called smart radios now have this feature integrated. From here, the process is very simple. Just turn on the Bluetooth in the car radio and search for it from your device. You will have to pair the devices, and in the majority of stereos, the pairing PIN code is written in the manual. Once you’ve done this, your device will always connect to the radio when you start it.

2. Purchase a Bluetooth Device

Many smartphone manufacturers offer BMW Navigation that allow you to connect your smartphone to the car’s audio system. They connect via audio cable to the stereo and via Bluetooth to the smartphone. Blackberry offers the Music Gateway device that does exactly this, but you can find other aftermarket devices, that allows you to pair your Android device to your car’s radio. Also, Belkin offers a great car AUX system for connecting your smartphone to your car’s audio system.

3. Connect Via USB or AUX

This is by far the simplest solution and the cheapest possible. All you have to do is connect your smartphone to the car stereo via the AUX port, using a “male-to-male” 3.5″ jack connector. Plug in one end to your smartphone and the other to the AUX port on your stereo. To use the USB cable, the process is similar, but your stereo has to have USB connectivity integrated. The process is the same as with the AUX cable.

Regardless of how much work you have to do to integrate your smartphone into your Android Car DVD, the important thing is that you consider how to use it safely when you’re driving. It’s great to be able to use your phone’s conveniences during your commute, but only so long as you’re keeping yourself (and others) out of harm’s way.

How to modify your Maruti Swift with cool accessories

Maruti Swift is undoubtedly a great car in terms of performance. But as you might have already found out, it focuses more on performance then on design. Of course, the car’s design is sleek and simple, without looking in any way bad. It’s just that it doesn’t particularly sparkle through its design. The good part, on the other hand, is that due to the simple design, the car can be easily modified by adding accessories. Think of it like it’s a blank canvas- the simpler the merrier.

As long as you get a very good performance and fuel economy, the looks are less important, especially if you can modify these afterwards just by adding some cool accessories.

So, if you own a Maruti Swift or you plan on purchasing one let’s see what are the products that can change the way in which your car looks in no time.

Side note: if you’re on a budget, stay away from repainting plans and generally anything that involves taking your car to a car service center. Focus on accessories that you can mount yourself or that request a very little effort (and cost) to be mounted in a car service center.

Led lights

If you don’t particularly enjoy the bulb lighting that comes with your car, you can always modify that with very little effort.

The best solution is replacing the fabric lights with Cheap Car LED lights. Not only do the LED lights have practical benefits such as a reduced power consumption and longer resistance, but they can also give your car a very stylish look.

Something so small as LED lights can make such a huge difference when it comes to your Maruti Swift’s looks.

You can purchase LED lights from starting with $2.

Seat covers

The seat covers can make a real design difference. Depending on what kind of seat covers you choose, you can change your car’s look completely, giving it a new feeling.

When choosing seat covers make sure you take into consideration the practical aspects as well. For example, if you live into a very warm climate, it is not advisable to purchase a leather seat covers set, as these will heat up in the sun. Instead, you can opt for towel seat covers, which can look just as stylish as the leather ones.

Car mats

A slightly more subtle car accessory, the car mats can still be a great plus to your Maruti Swift’s look. Make sure you choose some solid car mats, as besides the aesthetic purpose, the car mats really have to protect your car’s interior. Having car mats can seriously prevent damage and will totally keep your car clean and in a good shape for longer.

Side beading

Exterior accessories can make a real difference to the overall car’s look. Side beadings can add a plus of coolness to your Maruti Swift. Keep in mind that small details make the difference.

While these side beadings have a clear design purpose, their original purpose is very practical. Owning side beadings will protect your car for future scratches- it always happens that you accidentally hit your car’s door to another object and you get it scratched. But the side beadings will act like a protective layer between the car door and the harmful object.

Bumper Protector

Just like the side beading, the bumper protector’s purpose is to protect your car from scratches, only that the latest will prevent the scratches resulted from parking.

As well, these little pieces of rubber can bring a plus of stylish design to your Maruti Swift.

Mud Flaps

The last one from the car protector series is the Mud Flaps. These attach to your car right near the tire, preventing mud to pile up under your car.

Usually these are made out of plastic, but you might find some made out of metal as well. Besides its very practical purpose, these can as well help improving the design of your car. Make sure you look thoroughly before purchasing a set of Mud Flaps, as you could actually find some really stylish ones.

Clear Fog Light Lamp

While all the other cool car accessories listed here are simply to mount yourself, the clear fog light lamp request professional installation- therefore you’ll have to take your Maruti Swift to the car service.

Double lamps might make your car look badass but let’s not forget the tremendous importance of the fog light lamps. These can be very helpful in bad weather conditions, making driving in these situations a lot mot safer.

Purposed purely for improving the car’s design, stickers can make your Maruti Swift look really unique. Using stickers you can obtain the same effects such as from getting your car professionally painted at the service. You can choose from a large variety of stickers, starting with simple, 2D stickers, 3D stickers, small, delicate ones or large, aggressive ones.

How to Choose the Best Hid Kits for Your Car

HID stands for High Intensity Discharger and HID kits are used for upgrading a vehicle’s headlights. Some of the benefits of this modification include low power consumption and a better intensity of light. Many companies have recognized the worth of HID lights and therefore these lights are part of almost all new car and truck models. However, if you have an old car and would like to improve its performance then installing an HID conversion kit can prove to be a great modification. Buying these kits from a reputable car parts manufacturer is a good option to avoid legal issues and other reliability problems.,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/18ebo249u5d3tjpg.jpg

It has been found that HID lights produce up to 3 times more light than simple halogen bulbs which are factory installed. Furthermore, they require only 35 Watt power as compared to 55 Watt required by halogen bulbs. The technology used in these types of headlights is somewhat different and the functionality is optimized to bring about a positive change to your car’s performance. Reliable manufacturers provide waterproof and shockproof HID kits to their customers that can last for many years to come. Many people want to install these kits as they are not only cost effective but are also very easy to install.

There are some factors that contribute to overall good design and longevity of HID headlights. Keep these points in mind when you order your kits online. There are basically four types of HID car kits available on the market. These include single beam, hi/lo beam, telescope kit and bi-xenon kit. It depends on your requirements, budget and some other specifications to decide which of these kits to install. You may also want to read the specifications of different kits that come under all these types to choose the right one for your car or truck.

The brightness of light coming from these bulbs is measured in Kelvin or simply K units. HID kits are designed to produce double brightness as compared to halogen bulbs. They come in color variations ranging from white to blue. 5000K to 7000K is a common range of color temperatures used in the construction of HID lights. HID conversion kits are safe to use and manufactured by keeping in view the traffic rules regarding the intensity of car headlights and other legal issues. These kits come with complete instruction booklets to help you out through the process of installation.

Different car kits are provided by the aftermarket car parts manufacturers for different models. The best way to find out which car kit is best suited to your requirements is to conduct an online search. By using this method you can easily browse through a number of options available for the modification of your car’s headlights. You can also simply replace the bulbs with new ones made with xenon technology by finding out about the specifications of factory installed bulbs in your car. This way you can assure that the new headlights will work fine with no technical problems.

For all those automobile enthusiasts out there, installing HID kits in a car can be very beneficial as well as attractive. A generic HID kit is composed of three parts: bulbs, ballasts and igniter. When choosing HID lights for your car you can either go for a generic kit or individual parts depending on your requirements. You can search for these kits online and if you are able to find a package that comes with a good warranty period and easy to install parts, you can be assured that you have found an excellent deal. These kits are not only very popular but also a great option for upgrading your car as they also serve to enhance engine performance and overall operation.

Car amplifiers are the main driving factor to a great car audio system

kinter ma-200

Car amplifiers are the main driving factor to a great car audio system
There’s no other sound component much more important than the car amp. Good quality sound can not be reached if you don’t have a car amp or that car amp is of low quality. The car amp acts as the power supply for the whole audio regimen and it does what its name says, amplifies sound. The speakers and subwoofers are only able to reach their full potential by way of a car amplifier. Car amplifiers range in power from about twenty watts per channel to more than one thousand watts per channel. Depending on the quality and features of the car amp, you’ll see a range of anywhere from 50 dollars to several thousand dollars. Those on the higher end are more built towards competition and shouldn’t really be considered when just looking to upgrade to a good quality sound system. Car amplifiers are the main driving factor to a great car audio system.

There are many features and elements constructed right into a car amp. Some of these consist of crossovers, connectors, separate acquire controls, and pre-amp inputs and outputs. Please also bear in mind that car audio amplifiers possess a power rating, but not all power ratings are created equal. Sometimes you will see a peak or max score. Don’t pay any interest to this number as it truly does not mean anything and often placed on the box to increase the appeal of the car audio amplifier. The only score you want to take a look at is R.M.S. which stands for root mean square. This will be the benchmark figure and gives a much more correct indication of the energy output because it will be the average continuous power output over time.

Obviously the grade of the car amplifier should also be considered like anything else. One instant technique to typically identify quality is just checking the weight and size of the car amp. Higher quality amps regularly will have bigger heatsinks to house more components, better components and bigger components. While this can almost always be a quick and dirty way to determine the quality, it shouldn’t used strictly as the deciding factor. You really have to dig into some of the numbers to be sure because there are some high quality car amps that don’t necessarily follow this logic.

When buying for a car audio amplifier, you will be certain to come across a term called “Class”. This really is essential because it refers to how the amp operates and how effective it is. The three types most likely to be encountered are Class A, A/B, and D. Class A are extremely uncommon in automobile sound systems because they’re the least efficient, consuming the most power simply because they run constantly, but generally they also produce the very best audio. Class A/B car amps are the most typical types you’ll see in cars simply because they are much more effective than Class A. Subwoofers usually will probably be powered by Class D types. These are probably the most effective when it comes to energy output and consequently Class D type amps will probably be smaller and will generate a lot less heat than the other classes.

An imperative element to think about for your car amplifier is the connection format. Numerous factory-installed receivers merely contain speaker-level inputs that will demand special adaptors. This will routinely work very well. However, you could encounter some distortion through the speakers. In that event, you might want to consider a new CD/MP3/AM/FM receiver, depending on your budget and audio demands. An amp normally carries a device to separate diverse frequencies and lessen distortion. This is what’s called a crossover. Your amplifier should have one crossover for high-frequency notes and one more for low-frequencies.

1 last feature I wish to discuss is something known as bridging. This allows the car amp to combine multiple channels into a 1 channel or 2 channels. So if you have a 4 channel car amplifier, you can bridge this down to 2 channels or a 2 channel car amp could be combined into 1 channel. For example, If you have a 2 channel car audio amplifier and you want to use it to power a subwoofer, you probably would want to bridge these channels down to one channel and use this to energy the subwoofer. Essential feature of a car audio amplifier because it provides for flexibility in the setup.

How to Get Classic Car Insurance in Arizona

Arizona is the home for classic cars, with the nice dry weather and many retirees living in the state. Many classic car and muscle car owners are older men, the baby boomers that fueled the muscle car craze in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

They want their old cars that they once drove (and raced), now that they are retired and can maybe spend the extra money and time they need for them. Finding the right auto insurance for your classic car in AZ should not be difficult, as long as you know a few basics of the law and standards in classic car insurance.

A few requirements will be needed to be qualified for classic car insurance in Arizona. First off, a garage will be required for your classic car. I’m sure this won’t be a problem for most, since that blistering summer sun can do some damage to any paint job if left out long enough. If your car is being restored or not in great condition from the start, you may be able to get away with having a canopy or other type of shelter. Make sure you explain to the insuring company the exceptions, and they may be able to work with you. As I will show later, contacting a specialty collector car insurance company may give you more relaxed policies depending on your specific needs. Typical auto insurance companies used for daily driving vehicles may not work with your exceptions as well as specialty car insurers.

The next requirement is having a driver’s license for at least 10 years, and it must be a fairly clean driving record. The decision about the driving record will be made by the individual insurance company, so you may need to shop around if your record is not that great. Furthermore, you will need a daily driving vehicle. NO insurance company will insure your classic car if you do not have another vehicle to use for your daily commuting. The daily driving vehicle does not have to be insured by the same company, but having the car is a requirement. Nearly all insurance companies put a mileage restriction per year on miles driven on the classic car, usually 2,500 to 5,000 miles. The more miles allowed, the higher the premium.

Most car insurers will classify the term “classic car” to mean anything older than 15 years, and sometimes 20 depending on the insurance company standards, so keep that in consideration when shopping around. For most situations, you should choose the ‘Agreed “Value” policy. You and the insurance company will determine a full replacement amount on the vehicle, and you will be covered to that amount always. The other policy sometimes offered is the “stated Value”. You do not want this one, since the depreciation value will be taken off the value of the vehicle.

The biggest tip that can be offered is to compare specialty collector car insurance providers. You could end up finding cheaper rates, better coverage, and the process could be a lot simpler than going through a typical auto insurance company. Specialty car insurance companies only deal with specialty and classic cars, so they know how to properly value a car, and can guide you through the process easily. Not only will you have less headaches, but you will be able to properly value your car.

Towards a More Personal Experience: Custom Car Seats in Tampa, Florida

When it comes to car interiors, the car seats are the parts that are most prone to exploitation. A lot of people sit on them, pets scratch them off, food and beverage are sometimes spilled on them. These, and a lot of other factors, make car seats look more worn out after quite some time.

Because of this, many car owners in Tampa, Florida look for ways to replace their car seats with something durable yet trendy and hip. This need opened the custom car seat branch of the auto upholstery industry in the area.

6.jpgAuto upholstery refers to the production of car seats together with the padding, springs, webbing, and fabric or leather that accompany them. Custom auto upholstery or custom car seats make the frame, support system, cushioning, and covering more unique and personalized.

Frames of custom car seats are sometimes made from hand crafted hard woods like oak. Some are made from metal and plastic. However, those that are made from plastics easily loosen and break.

Support systems are customized by manipulation solid, spring, tension systems. Solid support systems are rarely used in modern cars as compared to tension support systems. The latter is much lighter and has an intricate system of webbing create a relatively solid surface. This surface is the one that will be padded and covered to produce comfortable custom car seats.

The cushions are the second most fascinating part of custom car seats. Cushions are usually made from materials with high-density foam core that are wrapped with either polyester, feather and down, or a hypoallergenic down substitute. Cushions together with the accessories are very essential for custom car seats.  These are the things that make the driver and the car passengers comfortable during a ride.

Last but not the least are the seat covers – the most fascinating part of custom car seats. Seat covers are the one that can be chosen by the car owners themselves. Compared to other parts which have restrictions in design to achieve desired strength, the design of seat covers can look like anything under the sun. This factor is what makes custom car seats appealing to almost anyone in Tampa, Florida. With trendy covers, custom car seats become more aesthetically pleasing.

If you plan on improving the look of your car, start from within. Nothing beats a comfortable ride. Surely, that is something that custom car seats can offer you.

15 Worst Car Modifications, Bad Upgrades & Auto Accessories

There have always been those among us car enthusiasts who take the design of every vehicle they own to it’s very edge of speed, handling and style.  All the modifications are *completely* useless (maybe mildly counterproductive).  Here is my public service announcement:  the 10 worst ways to modify your car.

1.  Decals That Belong on Other Cars

One popular way to convince people your car is “da bomb” is to apply a fake sticker claiming it’s “turbo” charged or on some “racing team.”  One of the most popular “fakes” was the “Type R” decal on Honda Civics and Acura Integras, which was *only* applied to a very limited edition, top performance line of Civics and Integras.

2.  Turbocharger Speakers AKA Fake Engine Sounds

A turbocharger or “turbo” (a thing that you put in the engine to make the car faster) is considered a “cool” upgrade for big boys (from a guy’s point of view) or little men (from a female perspective *wink*).  There are only 3 ways to let potential breeding partners know your car has a turbo (alleging that you are then, cool).  1. Label it with a “turbo charged”  sticker.  2. Drive it…making sure everyone hears your engine’s new “sound.”  3.  Buy a “turbo” speaker system!  Yes, some car buffs, with only a few brain cells to knock together, discovered a cheaper alternative to turbo charging their engines.  Simply purchase a speaker system to mimic that classic turbo sound. The kits even feature a switch, to  turn on the sound at stoplights…prompting all women in earshot to walk in the other direction. With the Sunami speaker system, you don’t even need an actual car.  When potential mates stop by, or call, just secretly flick the switch and say, “Sorry… can’t hear you over my new turbocharger.”  (Face it…you weren’t going to get a second date anyway.)

3. Race Car Blow-off Valves

Some creative car lovers saw a 90s street racing movie and mistakenly thought they *needed* a blow off valve for their Honda Accord.  Sure, now your econo-car *sounds* like a jet.  Then, as your shifting gears in city traffic, you realize that new LOUD hiss of compressed air isn’t the smoothest sound…especially when you have to hear it a 1000x/day every rush hour.  The kicker…your annoying car doesn’t even go any faster!

4. Super Loud (stupid cheap) Exhaust Systems

An aftermarket exhaust system is the #1 modification every hot rodder wants.  A less restrictive exhaust system frees up horsepower and lets out more of the engine’s natural tone.  One car buff said it best. It makes a car sound like “a swarm of drugged bees being shot out of the ass of an elephant.”  A crappy exhaust system sound like…well…shit.  PLEASE!  Splurge on a decent muffler for your Hot Rod (for all our sakes).

5.  Giant Wings AKA Baby Got Back

The concept of a wing is not entirely bad. IE.  A Porsche 911 has a small spoiler that comes up at 60mph+. Porsche claims this is enough “downforce” for the car, which can go faster than 190mph.  Whatever works on race cars will work for all cars…right?  WRONG!  F1 cars go *so* fast that the wind through the wing pushing the tires down actually *does* make a difference in steering and control.  Reality check…Most cars with BIG wings aren’t even able to reach speeds of 110mph+, which their wing’s down force could enhance.  Thus, most cars do NOT need a “wing,” (let alone 2 or even 3 wings). NOTE TO NASCAR FANS:  There *is* a difference between a spoiler and a wing.  Although they’re both cool looking tail pieces, a spoiler is the one close down on the trunk like on the Civic Si.  The spoiler directs the airflow path down the back of the car, which decreases drag while increasing mileage.   The affectionately nick-named “rice rockets” usually end up with *both* a rear wing and  front wheel drive and steering. So, even *if* the wing is working at all, it would pick *up* the wheels, rather than push them down.  DOH!?!  Yes, most “Rice Rocketeers” add wings to their car that aren’t even shaped for providing *any* down force at all.  They might even  provide some lift instead, or, due to their heavy weight, create drag to slow the car down. MY FAVE:  Three (yes, count them) 3 wings where no oncoming air could ever reach them!

6.  Low Profile Tires AKA Big Wheels

Low-profile tires (commonly known as “low-pros”) are expensive and hard to find.  They kind of look cool because you see much more of the alluring, chrome wheel, and less of the dull, rubber tire.  BUT…Do  bigger wheels also let people see your awesome brakes?  We must assume cars with low-pros *do* indeed have awesome brakes, simply because their main purpose is to   allow the use of more powerful brakes, provide better handling and reduce weight below the suspension.   WARNING POTHOLES!  Once low-pros start to age, they start cracking around the sidewalls from baking in the sun for years.  The first pothole they hit can crack low profile  tires right open.  You *may* get lots of compliments on your lo-pros, but word won’t buy you new tires (@$1,000).

7.  Classic Car Replica AKA Aerodynamic Body Kits

What is an “aerodynamic” body kit?  This is for car lovers who don’t want to actually lower  the car’s suspension…but want that phat, “low suspension” look.  (Oh yeah…you’re cool.) Why do car owners think this will “work?”  “Wide wheels” provide better traction, but also require wider wheel wells to cover them and direct air over them.  The result of the two working together is called the “ground effects.”  The narrow space left between the car and the ground helps pull the car down (that same down force they want from car wings). As with the wings, a car gets more down force from the heavy weight of the body kit than any ground effects that *may* be generated.  WARNING:  Body kits can be VERY DANGEROUS in the wrong hands.  Friends don’t let friends use bad body kits!

8.  DIY Lower Car Suspension

How do you take a simple, stock car and smother it in sex appeal?  Give it a  “slammed” look by lowering the suspension yourself!   Lowing a car’s center of gravity allows you to handle it better and feel less body roll in the curves.  (*IF* you do it right…you did, right?) What…you don’t KNOW?!?  Tell me you did NOT simply hook on the biggest set of springs you found. If so, dude (or dudette) you’ve got a big problem!  When you lower the springs, without the rest of the suspension, you’ve got “bump steer.”  IE.  When you hit a bump (better make that a “jump”) in the road…HOLD ON.  Every time your wheel hits a bump or groove in the road, your car will now steer in that direction. Wait…you didn’t even *buy* new springs?  You just cut your car’s old springs to lower it.  Congratulations!  Your car no longer has a functioning suspension system.  Better beat it around EVERY bump in the road…you’ve got NOTHING absorbing that shock now.

9. Putting A 450hp Race Car Clutch In A 200hp Ride

Whenever one of my friends gets a Mustang, they feel the urge to buy a pair of Flowmasters, and a K&N CAI…and the heaviest, least practical clutch you can find.   (IE.  the King Cobra clutch).  Their car makes 220, but they add a clutch rated for drivetrains of 450hp+. WARNING:  This does *not* make the car any faster, but it *does* make your left leg cramp up in traffic.  You’ll wear the clutch out early from lazy shifting.

10. Fake Chrome On A Real Car

I like chrome as much as the next guy (or girl, as the case may be).  Yet, just because a Classic Cadillac is beautifully bathed in chrome, doesn’t mean your Honda Civic is gonna look sick with stick-on strips.  Some compulsive car junkies cover their car in fake chrome strips, accentuating every angle in…plastic.  Leave the plastic at Pep Boys…PLEASE!

11. Trailer Hitch Toilet AKA BUMPER DUMPER

12. Trailer Hitch Stripper Pole AKA  Platinum Stage

13. Car Mustache AKA Carstache

14.  Balls For Your Truck AKA Truck Nutz

Beyond serving no purpose, other than announcing your terrible taste, these fake ball sacks are actually illegal in some states.  Is this an over reaction by the so-called moral majority?  I, for one, am glad the government intervened to save us from this “Macho, Macho Mod!”

15. My Fave FakesThat Did Not Make My List:  Neon underglows, rhinestone studded mud flaps, and super spinners.  What are *your* favorite car modifications?

Recycle Your Car Audio System Before you Replace It

Thinking about getting rid of your old car stereo? Wait a minute! Don’t throw it away or leave it to rust away in your shed, instead recycle it!

With new technologies constantly arriving on the market and replacing the old and a quite a lot of leisure money hanging around, we have become use to throwing away electrical goods without a second thought. But for us and the rest of the earth, this wastage can have serious consequences…

According to Recycle-More figures we throw away over 75% of electrical goods and these end up, of course, in landfills. In the last few years, electrical waste has also been increasing by a massive 5% per year, in turn increasing the amount of pollutants we’ve been pumping into the earth.

Not only are we wasting finite resources that we cannot afford to waste. Throwing away our electrical goods into landfills is causing damage to habitats, polluting the soil and the water. This is not only very dangerous for animals, but for us to, as we are polluting our own water, which as we know causes disease and illnesses.

Our wastage is excessive and without a doubt needs to be limited. So instead of throwing away your stereo, either because it is outdated or no longer works, recycle it. You may even be able to get money from recycling, which is much better than throwing it away in the dustbin.

You can find recycle units run by the third sector, councils and businesses by having a look around in your local area, ringing the council or going on the Recycle-More website, which is an electrical recycling website dedicated to informing the public on government initiatives, such as the WEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) scheme and all other recycling information. .

The WEE regulations also state that all producers of electronic goods, and even sellers in some cases, have to provide an electronic recycling service. So check if the major electronic stores and the manufacturer of your stereo offer a recycle service. It may require you to drop the car audio system off or send it off to the company. On all electrical goods made after on the 13th August 2005, there should also be a crossed out wheelie bin symbol, which aims to promote recycling of electronic goods.

With recycling being on the governments top agenda, you’re bound to find an electronic recycling service in your area. If you choose not to recycle your goods, why not instead get your electronic equipment repaired? After all, it will save you the cost of buying a new system.

Five of the top car brands in Germany

People can be very particular about the cars they drive; some people choose to buy a car only after careful consideration of all the makes and models available. Some people may only choose cars from certain manufacturers because of prior experience or perhaps upon recommendation from other.

Some people choose their cars based on where they came from, a lot of people chooseGerman cars because of this reason based on the track record of German cars being powerful and stylish. Famous brands such as BMW and Audi pride themselves on stylishcars that perform well as either executive cars or powerful sports cars depending on the model. Below are five of the best German car brands that people like to choose:

BMW is a very successful German car brand and has cars in almost every category from the sporting sedan – the M5, to a large 4×4 – the X5; they even have a fun sports car in the Mini Cooper. BMW has cars in the racing world also with touring cars as well as Formula 1. BMW cars are powerful, elegant and comfortable all at once making it a very popular brand.

Whilst BMW is often thought of as a more “clinical”, industrial brand Mercedes-Benz is more of a luxury vehicle. Mercedes again has cars in the racing world as well as producing street cars that could give racing cars a run for their money for example the McLaren SLR. The Mercedes SL and CL series are both popular with people looking for a smaller, luxury, executive car.

Audi have recently been making more and more impressive car models aimed at the executive and sporting realm like the Mercedes. Their increasing range of smaller sporty models like the TT and the R8 has also enabled them to compete with BMW’s Z4 and other small sports cars. Audi cars have a lot of innovations such as the LED strip lighting that has become as iconic as the four rings on the Audi badge.

Volkswagen (VW)
Volkswagen are well known for their rallying car, the Golf, which these days is considered a leading medium sized car, able to compete with many sports car offerings from other brands. The VW Beetle is another iconic car that has been popular during its many iterations from the 60s to present day.

Porsche are well known for making some of the best supercars such as the 911 and Cayenne – which is a mix of the traditional Porsche sports car with a 4×4. The shape and design of the Porsche is instantly recognisable and has its fair share of fans.

If you’re looking for a quality used German car then used car finance or another form of car credit could enable you to buy the car you want at a price that suits your circumstances.

A Brief History of the sport of drifting

Originally, a motorcycle racer, Takahashi got fame in 1961 as the first ever Japanese rider to actually win the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix on a 250cc Honda. A serious injury in 1962 reduced his motorcycle racing career and made him start racing in cars. He started utilizing many drifting manoeuvres out of requirement to take on tight corners while maintaining the speed. Not only did it assist Takahashi win drifting, races on the speedway also won him various followers among the fans. Fans were exhilarated by this brand new style of racing and Takahashi’s crowd pleasing antics on the track.

The ambition of the young street racer, Tsuchiya devoted himself to the drift methods of Takahashi. As an upcoming racer, Tsuchiya made something completely unique, elevating drifting from a mere racing method to a complete sport in its own right. Tsuchiya’s early practice runs on Japan’s twisty mountain roads have become the stuff of legend, the Japanese term for mountain pass, Touge, has entered street racing vocabulary in languages and countries all across the world.

With the assist of a few car and tuning magazines, Tsuchiya made a short video featuring the drifting skills and methods titled ‘Pluspy’. The video debuted in 1987 and was an instant hit inspiring countless amateurs and professionals, all of whom wholeheartedly accepted this new sport. Soon after the release, many others got inspired to learn to drift. Grand Prix is very near to drifting and this has led to these tournaments in Japan and all across the world.

Right debuting in the late 80’s, competitive drifting has left a lasting impression in the racing world. Drifting is now a contemporary motor-sports culture, with races taking place in highways and speedways all over the world. The simple and relative low cost of modifying one’s car for drifting has sadly lead to vibrant, yet illegal, underground drifting scene in various countries. Unlike other types of competitive motor-sports, it is fairly simple for the average muscle car owner to add some modifications to the vehicle to transform it into a drift racer. While great for enticing new fans to driving lesson, this also leads to the surge in illegal underground races held in the public roads.

The Grand Prix tournaments have gone beyond the borders of Japan and are now held in countries all across the world. If you also want to learn it, you should want to get enrolled in any drifting school.

Why the 5.7 Hemi is One of the Best Dodge Engines Ever Made

When people think of Dodge, they tend to immediately think of the most legendary of Dodge Engines: the Hemi. While the old-school Hemi from nearly a quarter-century ago was renowned around the world for its jaw-dropping brute force that could catapult full-sized cars through the quarter mile faster than you can say “Hemi”, it was not necessarily known as a fuel-efficient motor.

The new 5.7L Hemi, released in 2003 is a completely different story, and it has already gone down in history as one of the very best Dodge engines. In fact, it would not be a stretch to say that many performance enthusiasts would agree that the modern Hemi is probably one of the best high-performance engines on the planet.

What makes the 5.7L Hemi one of the best Dodge engines ever? There are three primary factors: power, reliability, and efficiency. Combined, these three factors make the modern Hemi a world-class engine, and serve as a shining example of what Dodge engines can do when given the chance.

The modern Hemi is powerful enough to actually replace not only the outgoing 5.9L Magnum engines in many Dodge/Chrysler vehicles, but also to replace the legendary 8.0L V10 that powered some of the most impressive Dodge pickup trucks of the 1990s and early 2000s. Depending on how it is tuned, the modern 5.7L Hemi can have over 360 horsepower and nearly 400 lb-ft of torque on tap, most of which at a very wide rpm-range that starts just shy of the 2000-rpm mark. For this reason alone many muscle car enthusiastshave taken a real liking to the 5.7L Hemi, and more than one old-school Challenger has gotten a new lease on life thanks to one of the best Dodge engines ever created.

Of course, muscle cars of 60s and 70s were not famous for their reliability. A large part of the problem had to do with the titanic force that their engines were putting to the pavement via oversized tires and transmissions that were struggling to keep up. Nowhere was this more true than with the earliest Dodge engines to bear the Hemi-moniker; the bottom line was that these motors were just too powerful for their own good and all that power caused undue stress on a number of components both inside and outside of the old-school Hemi block.

Oh have times have changed. The new 5.7L Hemi is far more refined than the old Hemi in terms of reliability, and car-making in general has come a long ways in the past few decades. The results are that the latest Dodge engines to proudly carry the Hemi-badge are so reliable that they have been listed on Ward’s 10 Best Engines list for six out of seven years. The Ward’s 10 Best Engines list covers engines produced by all major automobile vendors with a global reach, which includes all of the major Asian and Europeanautomakers. With competition like that, it is impressive that not only has a Dodge engine won a slot on that list consistently, but that the list favors reliability above all else.

The MDS (Multi-Displacement System) in the modern Hemi also makes it very efficient and easy to drive in day-to-day situations. Who ever thought that anyone would say that about one of the fiercest Dodge engines ever made? The bottom line is that the new Hemi sets the standards not only for Dodge engines in general, but for engines around the world.

A Brief History of Car audio

The car audio system has been influenced by so much in the last hundred years. As technology has altered, changed and reformed itself, the car audio system has transformed with it.

The first influence upon the car audio system was the radio. Invented in the early 1900’s (around the same time cars became popular) it however didn’t gain commercial status until the 1920’s when the first commercial boomed occurred.  In 1922, a historic date for the car audio system, George Frost was the first person known to experiment with car radio with his own Ford car. Then in 1925, the first official listing of a car radio occurred, which was followed in 1927 with the first mass produced car radio, the Transitone TH-1.

In 1930, two famous American manufacturer brothers, Paul and Joseph Galvin manufactured the 5T71, which was to be under the brand name of ‘Motorola’. Across the globe, Germany’s Blaupunkt fitted their first commercial car radio in 1932 and Crossley’s of the UK started fitting them from 1933 onwards.

Up until till the 1950’s AM was the common car radio. In 1952, it was Blaupunkt that introduced the first FM car radio. Fm listening was not fully popular or available till at least a decade later. The 1950’s was a time of great change for the car audio system, as the seek button was introduced – a button which is still available on car audio systems today.

The 1960’s saw tape players arrive on the car audio scene. Reel to reel tape players were the first arrival, however, their bulkiness made sure that they were not to become popular. In 1964, Phillips invented the compact cassette and Lear invented the 8 track cartridge in competition with this.  The 8 track tape made its way into the Fords’ 1965 cars, but it would not be until 1970 that the compact cassette nudged its way into the car.

The 1970’s and 80’s saw FM radio stations become exceedingly popular, however, AM radio responded by offering more talks shows and sport channels for its listeners.  Car radio had finally expanded, giving its listeners more freedom of choice. In 1982 – a momentous moment occurred – the Compact disc or CD was invented Sony and Phillips, which was to be added in car audio systems in 1984 for the first time.  Subsequently to this, CD changers appeared in car audio systems.

The years after this, saw CD’s replace the cassette, the DVD and Mp3 being introduced to the car audio market. In the last few years, we have also utilized Bluetooth technology to connect our mobile phones (smart phones) to our car audio system, making it not only useful for entertainment but for practical reasons too.

How To Reupholster & Repair Car Seats and Covers

If you own a car long enough, it’s upholstery will *look* dead long before it’s engine actually dies. To maintain the value of your vehicle, you’ll need to replace the fabric on the seats, AKA reupholster them.  One option is to pay a professional copious amounts of cash to do it for you.  Or, if you’re thrifty like me, you’ll want to learn to do it yourself.  If that’s you, I’m here to help.  *smile*

Tools Needed For This Job:

Ratchet set

New seat upholstery (material)

Poly Foam

Upholstery stapler

Large sheets of paper

Aerosol glue

Go to a fabric store and buy about 1.5-2 yards fabric per seat. Velvet is a good upholstery choice for many reasons:  looks, comfort, durability, and it allows seams that are sewn incorrectly to be ripped out without leaving a mark. In addition to the velvet, you’ll need 1 yard of muslin and 1 yard of 1/2 inch poly foam, per seat, to create the pleats.

First, you must remove the old seats from your car. Using your flashlight, search under the seat for the large bolts attaching the seat to the car frame. Remove these bolts, and then you can remove the seats.

Next, carefully remove the fabric from the seat frame. Most upholstery is fastened to the base with staples, which you must take off to remove the fabric.  NOTE:  Try to keep as much of the original upholstery intact, as this will be the “car seat pattern” you use for your new seat upholstery. Also, take notes on how the seat fits together, as you’ll have to remember this to reassemble your new fabric on it.

Before making new car seat patterns on the new fabric, the fabric that has pleats (you know, “pleats,” the body shaping grooves that run down each seat) needs to be prepared. Do this by gluing poly foam between the velvet and a muslin backing before you cut the pattern out. NOTE:  Excessive amounts of glue on the fabric will make sewing extremely difficult. So, use just enough glue to hold the fabric in place.

Now you’re ready to make your new car seat patterns.  Lay each piece of your original car seat material flat on a large sheet of paper.  To make your new “Car Seat Upholstery Pattern,” trace around each piece of material. If your material has holes and/or tears, creating gaps in your pattern, you’ll have to fill them in using your imagination.  The poly foam enhanced sections are important because they have pleats and listings. These are traced over the poly foam modified velvet, so that you have the option to sew pleats into them. In the photo below, note that, on the lower seat section, the grain of the fabric on the lower (vertical) face is perpendicular to that on the top part of the seat. This is not necessary, but does create a visually attractive contrast.

Congratulations, you have new car seat upholstery patterns!  Lay them over your new material and cut out your new car seat upholstery. NOTE:  Hold each piece of new seat fabric up next to the original seat cover to be sure you’ve matched each seat precisely.

Are you perspiring just *thinking* about making pleats? (Tell the truth.)  Don’t worry…be happy!  Making pleats is as easy as sewing a line down the foam modified fabric. The diagram above shows one way to sew pleats into seat fabrice.  NOTE:  If you choose a striped material, or striped textured material, make sure the vertical pleats run parallel with the stripes!  Carefully sew the pleats straight or it will be painfully noticeable.  The pleat that runs horizontally, in the lower section of the new  seat upholstery, doubles as a seam to hold the listing.

A “listing” is a “wire that pulls fabric into a concave surface.” Without it, you’d be left with an unattractive bubble in your seat base. To make your listing for the lower car seat section, fold your muslin in half and glue it in place. Then, after you sew your  horizontal pleat, you’ll have a small sleeve to put your wire in. NOTE:  Sew the listing last. If you put your muslin in BEFORE you sew your other pleats, you might just  sew it closed. *smile*

For the upper car seat sections, sew your pleats vertically, all the way up the back, without the horizontal pleat. There was no seam to hold the listing, so this part can be tricky. Like you already did for the lower section, fold a piece of muslin, but, this time, FOLD IT TWICE.  Next, sew it down with vertical pleats. Then, after sewing the pleats, cut the top fold free along the pleats. This way, instead of one solid sleeve, you should have three separate sleeves to hold your “listing” wire.

Using your removal “notes” from earlier, and your upholstery stapler, apply your new car seat upholstery to each car seat the same way that the original material was attached. Lastly, you can replace your car seats and ratchet them tightly back onto their frames.

The above photo shows a before and after photo of a car seat upholstery renovation.  The original seats had head rests, but the owner didn’t like them enough to bother re-upholstering them. His car seat renovation only cost $35, saving him $100s of dollars compared to hiring a professional to reupholster his car seats for him.

If you’re still a little intimidated to take on this task after reading this article.  You might invest in a professional reference guide. The “Automotive Upholstery Handbook” by Don Taylor comes highly recommended.

These high-performance cars are considered as collector’s vehicles when imported into South Africa.

Nissan 300ZX
This was sold in Japan as the Fairlady Z. It was assembled at Hiratsuka in Kanagawa, Japan, and marketed as a sports car. Available in 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, this model was sold in Japan from 1983 to 2000 and in the United States from 1984 to 1996. During its heyday, it won a lot of awards including being consistently included in Car and Driver’s “10 Best” list and in Automobile Magazine’s “All-Stars” list. A used 2011 Fairlady Z from Japanese exporters can be had for around $42,000 FOB price; older models go for much less.

Toyota Supra
Inspired by the styling of the Toyota Celica, Toyota Motors came up with the super stylishSupra. Engine-wise, the Supra’s is a descendant of the 2000GT engine. All Supra generations have a powerful inline six-cylinder engine, earning it a spot as one of the top street-legal sports cars in the world. The company stopped the production of the Supra in 2002; a pre-owned unit of the 2001 model can be found among Japan car imports for less than fifteen thousand US dollars.

Honda NSX

Later models were equipped with 3.2 V6 engines that made the car go faster: zero to a hundred kph in just 4.9 seconds. Because nothing followed the NSX in terms of a newer replacement model, used units come at a price: a 1999 version is priced at a little less than a hundred thousand US dollars. For something more affordable, the first generation model can be had for a little less than fifty grand.

Mazda RX-7

How Musch Does It Cost To Restore A Muscle Car

This depends on a lot of issues, most of which we can’t determine without tearing your car apart, at this point we have already begun the work on your car, the cost to restore your car is a subjective thing, we have no idea what it will take to restore a car until we look in to it.

Is the car from an area that makes it rust heavily, if so what damage has rust caused to the car, do we need to replace most of the metal parts of the car, such as the floorboards, trunk floors, rocker panels, and inner wheel wells, well you get the idea.

Does it have excessive body damage, electrical damage, interior damage, or mechanical damage, all of these things weigh in to the cost of getting your car restored, most reputable shops will have a shop labor rate that is high, if you locate a $25.00 per hour shop beware of what might happen to your car.

You might think that this sounds unfair, but your paying for their knowledge, not for their time, most reputable shops have owners that have spent a lot of time learning how to restore cars, and they should get paid for their knowledge of your car.

This is not collision repair, it’s nothing like it, we have no book to go off of to estimate the cost to restore your car, we have our knowledge of of your car, and the restoration of it, people often ask me if they can restore a car for less then it would cost to buy a fully restored one, the answer is no.

It will always cast more to restore a car then the blue book value of the car, so restoring them to resell, and make money off of is not the answer, you need to restore the car because it holds nostalgia for your, it brings back memories of the good old days.

There are just way to many factors to look at, factors that require us to begin work on the car to know what’s going on with it, a car can have a lot of hidden surprises, things that you’ll never see from just an outer inspection of the car, we need to get deeper then that to know about that car.

I know that to you this sounds like an excuse to get started on your car, but there really is no way for a restoration shop to know what’s in store in the restoration of any car, it is 100% impossible to estimate the cost of restoring your car.

An average restoration can, and will take a lot of time to complete, even if the car is in excellent condition, it will take at least 1,000 hours to complete the restoration of your car, so let’s take my shop for example, the shop labor rate is $75.00 PHR, this means at least $75,000 in just labor.

It does not include parts, or supplies, it does not include any custom work that you want done, nor does it include any high performance work that you want done, this just gives you an idea of why a shop would say that they don’t estimate restoration work on any car.

If you want the car restored faster, all the shop can do is to put another tech on your job, and most shops won’t do that for free, they’ll charge shop labor rate for each employee that works on your car, so you should also keep this in mind when you want to push the speed.

This is not the first article that I have written on this, and I’m sure it won’t be the last, I seem to keep getting the same questions, a professional restoration shop is not in business to rip you off, they are only charging what it costs them to do the work.

Muscle VS Tuner Cars

Many say that Muscle and Tuner cars are just two the same car. But there is also a big number saying that they are not, and one is better than the other. This is an argument that even until now, car enthusiasts are battling out. There are forums that were not ended yet because all participants have their points, favoring their personal choice of car type.

And both car types continue to developed themselves, making it look like comparison being made set out a competition between them. That is why I think, it will take forever before we all find out which one will conquer the streets and racing competitions.

First of all, the reason why Tuner and Muscle cars are being compared is that both cars are modified for better performance. By definition, muscle cars are especially made as spacious, durable, unsophisticated and powerful. These characteristics by muscle cars are what made them a bigger and heavier car. Tuner on the other hand is car of comfort, practicality and high gas mileage accompanied by performance modifications. They are typically good-handling vehicles. They’ve got light weight and worldly-wise suspensions.

Muscle cars’ specialty is drag racing while tuners are meant for drifting competition. But since they are both searching for car supremacy, both crossed the borders beyond their expertise. Tuners are now trying it in drag racing while muscle cars are giving it a shot on twisty tracks and thrilling drifting competitions.

Often times, it is the weight that most car enthusiasts are bragging about. For this part, it seems that tuners win it. Since they are exact, light and efficient, they are more capable of performing better as compared to muscle cars. Its low-cost tuning equipment triggered to more sales and high performance in comparison to dedicated sports cars. Other than their light weight, they are also easy to handle. But on the negative side, tuners are short in light of the massive torque and power that the bigger V-8s produce. This is where the edge of muscle car comes in. Muscle car always come with an engine that has powerful linear torque and horsepower curves. This characteristics made them better in acceleration and top speed. This leaves tuners behind because of its small engines and sharper torque curves, poorer when installed with a turbo-charger.

But it seems that the real standard for a good cars is its weight and handling.
